It is with regret that Theatre Kent announces that the actress playing the lead role of Velma Kelly in their upcoming production of "Chicago" has decided to step down due to personal reasons.  According to Producer JC Charbonneau, "It was a difficult decision as we did not want to see her go, however it was the right decision for her at this time".

Due to the circumstances, Theatre Kent will be holding a new round of open auditions to fill the role.  "We need to fill this role with the right person as soon as possible.  We are looking for a dynamic individual who is a strong singer, dancer and actor", says Charbonneau.

Auditions will be held Monday, August 23rd at 7pm in Studio One at the Chatham Cultural Centre.  Role requirements:  Female, age 20-45; very strong dancer with a big, Broadway belt voice; character is a sarcastic, extremely sexy, tough, funny murderess with a keen eye for publicity.

Interested individuals do not need to come with anything prepared; the audition will be comprised of singing, dancing & acting and all material will be taught/provided during the audition.  Please come dressed appropriately.

We thank everyone for their interest, however we are only casting the role of Velma Kelly at this time.
