A reminder that the deadline to submit Letters of Intent for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s new two-year, $500,000 Downtown Partnership Program is quickly approaching. The program will provide funding for partnerships that enhance our community’s downtowns and its recreation/parks amenities.
Organizations with capital projects in mind for 2010-2011 are invited and strongly encouraged to apply for funding of up to 50% of project costs, to a maximum of $50,000 per project (with the minimum grant amount being $10,000)
The goals of the Downtown Partnership Program include
· increased cultural and heritage amenities
· the promotion of tourism and education with an emphasis on natural and historical assets
· enhanced quality of life of Chatham-Kent citizens
· encouraging new partnerships
· creating new industries and jobs
· supporting immigrants and newcomers
· creating a healthier overall economy
“Council is committed to making Chatham-Kent the best, most active and healthy community possible”, said Mayor Randy Hope. “The partnerships that will be created among the municipality, community organizations and businesses in Chatham-Kent will go a long way toward strengthening our community.”
The deadline for Letters of Intent under this special round of funding is Friday, September 3, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. Letter of Intent forms and grant guidelines are available at all Municipal Centres, Information Desks, and public libraries. They are also available online at www.chatham-kent.ca. Under the “Community Services” heading, choose the “Getting Involved” link.
The Downtown Partnership Program will be a two-step process, which will consist of a Letter of Intent and the subsequent submission of a full application. A review committee made up of representatives from various municipal departments will review all Letters of Intent. Applicants who meet all requirements will be invited to submit full applications.
