Gotta tell you, I have many many books in my Stones library and I can't open any of them without reading a negative remark about this great band (especially in the beginning)---lucky for me and many other Stones fans that they didn't pay any attention to the writers of the world, who for some reason, wouldn't be writers if they didn't say something negative---least they seem to think that by saying something negative is intelligent----anyway, here are some quotes I have taken out of some books that are just to hilarious and should be read more than once.

THE ROLLING STONES "BAD BOYS OF ROCK"

1964--They wail, they thump, they look like scarecrows--Reveille Mag

1964--A free haircut awaits the next artist or group to be top of the pops. The Stones are the worst, one of them looks as if he's got a feather duster on his head--National Federation of Hairdressers

1965--Unless someone teaches guitar chords to chimpanzees, the visual ultimate has been reached in the Stones--Milwaukee Journal

1965--They're Shocker, Ugly looks, Ugly speech and Ugly manners--Sydney Hearld

1965--Mick Jagger cannot sing--even Ringo can sing better than him--Pop Shop

1965--They were on stage a mere 25 minutes, during which time they mixed obscene gestures with inaudible singing--Toronto Star

1966--Aftermath Lp review--This album does the best job of alienating the over-twenties. The reason---they attempt to sing--Desert News

1967--The way they were dressed, they looked as if they came out of a circus--Daily Mirror

1967--The Stones are showing signs of running out of gas. "Dandelion" and "We Love You" are excruciatingly bad. They seem to have decided to ape the Beatles, but they've run amok and found nothing--Toronto Daily Star

Honky Tonk Women--An important single for the Stones, but a disappointing one for us. The supposedly gutsy Honky Tonk Women fails to make much impact and the drum and guitar sound is rather unconvincing--Melody Maker 1969

1969--The Stones have succeeded in turning outrage into art. Are they really able to use all that money--LA Times.

Let It Bleed--The crummiest cover art since Flowers--Rolling Stone Magazine

1970--Let's hope in 1970 we see the break up of The Beatles and The Stones, let's face it-they've had a good innings and even they must admit their whole concept is now pure dullsville--Melody Maker

1970--If they have any sense of neatness, they'll get themselves killed in an air crash before they are 30--Awopbopaloobop Awopbanboom book

Exile on Mainstreet Album Review--The Rolling Stones have a talent for survival. They've been a monster success for almost a decade. But I've an awful feeling it won't last much longer. With their new double album they seem to have reached a dead end--South Wales Echo

"Angie" single review--this is positively the most depressing task I've had to undertake as a rock writer. This single is a dire mistake on as many levels as you care to mention. "Angie" is atrocious--New Musical Express 1973

Lester Bangs--The Rolling Stones lasting 20-30 years---what a stupid idea that would be. Nobody lasts that long---Creem 1973

1975--When I consider it coolly, I think it's more than possible that they've peaked. I wonder what I'll think of them in 1978--Philadelphia Inquirer

1976--If you took an electric drill or pile driver, tuned it so that it sounded a note, amplified it a hundred times and then played it over a public square, it would sound to the people forced to live nearby much as this concert sounded to me--Stones Gig at Earls Court-- one of the violinist

Well I hope you found these comments brought a little laughter to your life---I know the tidbits alway make me laugh---Stones forever--they are the band you love to hate
