This week, I would like to give you a short glimpse at my Jimi Hendrix Book Collection, and hopefully, you might track some of these great reads down at the used bookshops in your area. Did you know that the group "War" was the last group that Jimi was to jam with and it was the night before his death.

Bold As Love the Jimi Hendrix Experience by Frank Moriarty a hardcover book by Metro Books 1996. The preface is written by Noel Redding--this book is a great documentation of Jimi's life 120 pages---lots of colour photos and complete discography of numerous Hendrix releases---a very good read

An Intimate Biography of Jimi Hendrix by Curtis Knight---soft cover book 223 pages with several b&w photo's between the pages. This book was published by Praeger Publishers NY 1974 and based on Curtis Knight's private conversations with his friend and fellow musician. This book is a highly readable, honest portrait of one of the most compelling forces in rock music. He describes Jimi's black roots, musical creativity, drugs, women and performance style. A Great Read.

The Inner World of Jimi Hendrix by Monika Dannemann---a large hardcover book published by St. Martin's Press NY 1995. Monika Dannemann had been his fiancee for 2 years when Jimi died---she discloses the full truth about the circumstances surrounding his death and recounts in detail the distressing months that followed---lots of unpublished colour photographs of Jimi taken by Monika the day before he died---the book is loaded with a gallery of her original oil paintings inspired by Jimi's songs and his spirit.

The Hendrix Experience by Mitchell and John Platt a Mitchell Beazley Book 1990--large hardcover book 176 pages with over 200 photo's and several previously unpublished photo's with story highlights told by Mitch Mitchell----Jimi Hendrix, guitarist extraordinaire, charismatic performer, symbol of a generation. His short life has become the stuff of legend---but what was he really like and what actually took place in those brief but explosive years---this book has all the answers. Highly recommend this book

Jimi Hendrix Sessions--The Complete Studio Sessions 1963-1970 by John McDermott with Billy Cox and Eddie Kramer---hardcover 196 pages, plenty of photo's---this book takes us inside the studio and reveals album by album and track by track, how his songs were born and shaped into the classics they would become---extraordinary day-by-day details in the making of every one of Hendrix's songs and firsthand accounts by the people who where there on hundreds of hours of unreleased tapes. This book is a masterpiece to go with Jimi's Masterpieces of music. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK

'Scuse Me While I Kiss the Sky" The Life Of Jimi Hendrix, by David Henderson. A softcover book by Bantam books 1981 with black and white photo's, 384 pages of great reading. It contains great info on discography of recordings---gig dates in the UK, Monterey Explosion, his days in the Village and East Village---the wild tour across USA and many more interesting facts about this icon of a musician.
