Yes I am A HUGE ROLLING STONES COLLECTOR---for all the Rolling Stones fans out there, I thought I would share some of my collection this week. Some of these displays are very rare and hard to find---I do tend to like the store display material and let's face it, they do not make many of them.

The 1983 era was huge for Stones material---I bought this cool display of tongue air fresheners at a local service station and also lots of extra ones for my car. The attendant thought I was crazy at the time, but we still talk about it to this day. Also from this time frame, a counter display of 11 mini gum albums with replica album cover on front and gum records inside.

From the mid 60's, different coloured Pennants sold at the early USA shows

One of my favourite displays and I think I am safe to say one of a kind ---a 3D Dirty Work Display---it stands roughly 3 1/2 high and the band extends out from the backdrop with actual cd/cassette and stryofoam album---this came directly from the head department at CBS and amazingly, I have an 8 track tape of this album. Also, the record divider (an old collectible not seen these days) a counter display of Dirty Work, a cassette from Indonesia and the promo video of Dirty Work from CBS, very collectible and 7:20 of the Stones (very funny promo of the boys horsing around)

The Sticky Fingers reissues from Austria with actually working zipper and a German counter display---another rare find, very colourful and looks great in my collection.

New to my collection is the IORR counter display---Mick stands 3ft tall on this large store display with 3D effect. "If I Could Stick A Pen In My Heart, Spill It All Over The Stage" opening line from the song It's Only Rock N Roll, But I Like It. Well I gotta tell you I love this display and i has taken me quite awhile to find.

From Bill Wyman's 1974 album "Monkey Grip" the first Stone to release solo album, is part of the store display bin, a huge 1 1/2 foot Monkey Grip Banana (rarer then hens teeth) and the promo box with contents, t-shirt, Monkey Grip pin, a booklet with information on each album track (mine is autographed to me from Bill) and missing is the candy banana--I remember buying the marshmallow banana's as a kid.

From the UK is another large 3D display from the album "Stripped" this was one of my first large displays from England---they seemed to have gotten all the really good displays over there, compared to the US and Canada

Now a very cool Stones Voodoo Lounge Promo item is the Fake Pignose AMP with a small 3D mirror, Andy Warhol like picture of Mick Jagger's Head/Voodoo Lounge T-Shirt/Voodoo Lounge CD/Card CD of interview with Ed Rudy and lastly, a leather bag with drawstrings that holds a sterling silver Skull Head Ring replica of Keith's famous ring---another very hard to find item from the mid 90's.

In the clothes department, I have 3 very rare, very cool Jackets, the Burgundy Satin Jacket from the 1969 Tour---the 1972 World Tour with the "Tumbling Dice" on the back and from my very first Stones concert, a Tux from the 1978 Rich Stadium Stones Tour.

And Lastly, my favourite Stones collectible item, from 1980, The Rolling Stones Bally Pinball Machine, in near to perfect condition and working order----went all the way to Hartford Conn. with my brother Brad to pick this baby up---I even managed to get Bill Wymans autograph on this machine 6 years later.

Well I hope I haven't bored the readers of Cktimes with my collection---It's Only rock n Roll, But I like----this is just a small portion of my collection, so maybe I will run another storyline with more of my displays.

Allan Day----long time acquaintance of John Gardiner----I presently live in Goderich Ontario, retired (oh yeah) and live for the sound of music, especially from the 60's music explosion---I hope you enjoy some of my articles and they bring back some lost memories of bands gone by. Now I have to let you know that I am a HUGE Rolling Stones fan, collector, historian and I hope to hear any stories you might have on this GREAT Band from the 60's----email me at CK Times and let me know what you have or memories you have of this group. I will include stories and short stories on The Stones each week.
