Sydenham Field Naturalists meetings and Indoor Programs are held on the 2nd floor of the Wallaceburg Municipal Service Centre, Dufferin Ave., Wallaceburg. See individual dates for Program details.

THE BALDOON SQUARES, a square dance and round Dance group, meet at Wallaceburg District Secondary School cafeteria. Usually a light lunch follows the dance. Membership is free for the first three weeks of attendance. Call George Lung at 683-2889 for information.

The KENT COUNTY STAMP CLUB meets in the library at John McGregor Secondary School, 300 Cecile Ave., Chatham every month except July, August and December.

The CHATHAM KENT QUILTERS' GUILD meets at St. Paul's Congregational Church Hall, 450 Park Ave., W., Chatham. New members and guests welcome. Call 354-1985 for more information.

The Kiwanis Club of Ridgetown meets weekly in the basement of the Mount Zion Presbyterian Church, 59 Main St. E., Ridgetown. Summer meetings are hosted by members at various local addresses.

TEENS ROCK for teenagers in grades 7 - 10 meets at the Gym at Charlemont Free Methodist Church, 30127 Brigden Road, R.R.#5, Wallaceburg for basketball, volleyball, soccer, table games, outdoor games, campfires, cookouts, camping trips, community service projects and more. The Chatham Cultural Centre presents PHAT LOVE & the thin girl, a collaborative effort by writer/performer Tara Duffy and director Cynthia Rose. This play captures the hilarious love and life stories of a woman falling heart first into self-acceptance. Her struggles mirror many of our own insecurities about self, body and finding true love. The Blenheim-Harwich Horticultural Society is gearing up for another great year of gardening starting the New Year with special guest speaker Sherry Godfrey, owner of Sherry’s Perennials. Sherry’s topic will be on the new wave of gardening which includes “Roof-Top” Gardening. Come and enjoy an evening of discovering the joys of gardening and meeting others. A great way to share and learn all the wonders of horticulture and find out what other amazing programs, celebrity speakers and workshop the Society is putting together for you this year. This event will be held Monday, January 19th starting at 7:30pm in the lower meeting room of the Trinity Anglican Church on Ellen Street in Blenheim. We look forward to seeing you there. The Chatham Cultural Centre announces Ray Manzerolle will join the Ken Crone Trio for the next Friday Night Jazz, January 23, 2009 at 8:00 pm in Studio One. The Ken Crone Trio has been presenting Friday Night Jazz for the past 3 1/2 seasons to a sold-out crowd every time. This is a great way to start a busy weekend. The group consists of Ken Crone on piano, Eddie Laporte on bass and Pat Crone on drums. Tickets are $22.00 and member discounts are available. Take A Bow Productions will be holding auditions for their upcoming May musical RENT. Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer-prize winning Broadway musical. RENT is a rock musical with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson based on Giacomo Pucciniís opera La Boheme. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of AIDS. Auditions will be held Saturday January 24th from 3:00 - 6:00 pm and Sunday January 25th from 2:00 - 6:00 pm at Christ Church located on Wellington Street West ( across for the downtown mall parking centre). A second set of auditions will be held January 31st - times to be announced. Call Backs will be February 1st. If you are unable to attend these audition dates, scheduled auditions can be arranged. This performance of RENT is to performed entirely by students ages 12 - 19 years of age. Parties interested in auditioning for a role in this production are to perform a memorized monologue under two-minutes, a song with music or bring sheet music, and will perform a brief dance with a dance and movement coach. The Buxton National Historic Site and Museum invites you to a book launch and signing of "A Shadow on the Household by Bryan Prince on January 31 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Buxton Museum. There will be readings from the book and copies will be available for sale that can be signed by the author. Get an early preview of the special black doll exhibit. Heritage Pavilion Stage has commissioned and is producing a sequel to its very popular historical play "And Freedom for All". The new play, called "Freedom Belles", builds on the original by dealing with the womenís experience of the Underground Railroad and the establishment of a black community in south-western Ontario. What is new is that this play introduces the female historical characters, who are referred to in the earlier play, and lets them tell the story in their own voices. A school tour as well as public performances at St. Andrew's United Church in South Buxton will run during Black History Month - February 2009. Dinner and performance tickets are available for Friday and Saturday, February 6th and 7th and also for Friday February 13th. A special Sunday afternoon performance and ìcast partyî is scheduled for Sunday February 8th at 3 pm. Benefit Laser Light & Variety Extravaganza Show on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2009 at Ursuline College, Chatham In Support of the Chatham-Kent Professional Fire Fighters Associationís community charity fund. Proceeds will assist local worthy causes. The Firefighters have assisted many local community projects
including Camp Trillium, Y.M.C.A., Prism Center, Chatham Goodfellows, Children's Safety Village, and Chatham Youth Soccer. Owls are the focus of the annual Moonlight Winter Family Hike event at Longwoods Road Conservation Area. Join us on Saturday February 7, 2009 for an extraordinary evening hosted by the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority in partnership with the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Foundation. Bring the family to enjoy the many activities offered both inside the Resource Centre and outdoors. Pre-registration for this event is mandatory. Admission for this fun-filled event is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for youth 6-17, and children under 6 are free. Please bring your own bowls, mugs and spoons so that you can enjoy some homemade chili, a fresh roll and a hot beverage. Don’t forget to dress appropriately for the weather!
