Join the Wii Bowling League at the Wallaceburg Seniors’ Community Centre. No stairs to climb. This can be done sitting in a chair if you are unable to stand. A FUN SOCIAL 2 HOURS. All gaming equipment will be provided. No prior experience with the Wii console is necessary. The league using the Wii electronic game console will be composed of two-person teams. Teams do not have to attend every week, but will need to attend enough days to complete the league schedule. Teams will vie for the “Golden Shoes” Trophy . Less impressive prizes will be handed out to the teams managing the best average score, the best single game score and whatever other milestones or achievements we deem worthy, Sign up dead line by: Oct. 2nd. Located in the Region of Chatham-Kent, Tulip Tree Needlearts is a chapter of the
Embroiderersí Association of Canada www.eac.ca. The aim of the organization is to preserve traditional techniques and promote new challenges in the Art of Embroidery through education and networking. Meetings are the 4th Tuesday of every month. For information on meetings or classes please phone 519 674-5538 or 519 354-8590. Workshops are designed to offer members an opportunity to learn both new and advanced methods of needlework. Projects and Classes are ongoing throughout the year. Stitch-ins are held regularly in members homes throughout the region of Chatham-Kent. These offer an opportunity for members to share expertise and ideas. Tulip Tree Needlearts offers group and individual courses through the Embroiderersí Association of Canada. Membership is $50.00 and includes a subscription to the quarterly national magazine Embroidery Canada.

ARTspace is proud to present Process≈Product, an exhibition which examines
the ceramic surface. The artists included in this exhibition are: Beth Turnbull Morrish, David Moynihan, Chris Snedden, and Andrea Vuletin. Beth Turnbull Morrish is a maker of artefacts. Her work tells a story of the foods, meals and customs of her personal culture. The pleasure in using these special, unique dishes adds significance to the acts of eating, drinking, serving and socializing. David Moynihan’s goal as a potter is to enhance the experience of use by allowing “the marks and process of production show through his finished works”. Chris Snedden makes pots out of mid-temperature stoneware clay with slip decoration and his own transfer prints. He is primarily interested in using imagery on clay pieces and different firing types. Andrea Vuletin is the guest curator for this exhibition. She is an exhibiting member of ARTspace. The last work in this series will be The Kiss by sculptor Auguste Rodin. The lover’s lips do not actually touch in the sculpture, this may suggest that they were interrupted and met their demise without their lips ever having touched. Francoise Richard of the LCBO will be making the beverage selections for each evening, themed around the home country of the featured artist. This month will be Spain and France. Come to the Ridge House Museum to Deck Your Halls… Parents or grandparents bring your favourite little elf to the Ridge House Museum for our festive day of Christmas ornament and craft making. On Saturday, December 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. join us when we create holiday memories and jolly decorations to adorn your home for the Christmas season. Parent and child can work together to create their very own huggable Christmas penguin pillow, German paper stars and a sequined ornament to hang on the tree. Pairs will have the opportunity to create other wintry crafts that they can display all winter long. The day is designed so you can work at your own pace in a relaxed environment. Festive holiday tours of the decorated 1875 Ridge House will also be available. Come and see how Christmas trees were decorated during the Victorian era and enjoy some hot apple cider and a tasty holiday treat. The cost for each adult/child pair to attend is $31.50. The Chatham Sertoma Club is hosting a Pioneer Christmas Dinner at Lawson Hall Banquet Centre, 304 St. Clair St., Chatham. Doors open at 5 p.m., Dinner is served at 5:30. Candlelight, holly and ivy set the tone for this delightful and unusual Christmas Feast. The next film being shown by the Chatham-Kent Film Group is "Cairo Time" starring Patricia Clarkson and Alexander Siddig, and is about an unlikely friendship that develops in Cairo, Egypt. It will be shown at the Chatham Cinema Six on King Street East in Chatham. This is a special showing as the director of the film, Ruba Nadda, will be in attendance that evening. She will introduce the film and post-screening she will be available at the William Street Cafe for an intimate question and answer session. "Cairo Time" was awarded Best Canadian Feature at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival and is Ms. Nadda's fifth feature length film. We encourage movie-goers to purchase tickets in advance at the William Street Cafe, or to arrive early to the film to avoid disappointment.

In the spring of 2009, as part of its initiative to commemorate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812, the Ontario Ministry of Tourism provided the South West Region with funding to further develop legacy projects in the region. A feasibility study for an expanded memorial/interpretive program for Tecumseh and his Native brethren, at the Battle of the Thames sight, east of Thamesville along Longwoods Road has been under development. The study has been completed and the committee invites you to a presentation of the final plans for the future of this site. The Christmas Wish Trees at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Chatham and Wallaceburg campuses will be illuminated tonight. The public is invited to this annual ceremony to enjoy Christmas carols, words from CKHA’s pastoral staff, refreshments and to view the trees which will be decorated in gold, sliver and blue lights – signifying the level of gifts received through this year’s campaign. Over the years, Christmas Wish Tree has become a cherished tradition in our community. Through this campaign, residents of Chatham-Kent are able to publicly honour a family member, friend, colleague and/or business by making a donation to illuminate a blue, silver or gold Christmas Wish Tree light in support of their local hospitals. Ralphie¹s quest for a Red Ryder BB Gun comes to life as this favourite holiday film hits the stage. The play is adapted by Philip Grecian from the film and moemoir by Jean Shepherd and will be directed by Karen Robinet. The original Olympic flame will be travelling from Athens, Greece and making its journey across Canada, in an effort to “light the land, generate pride in our nation, and celebrate the possible!” The Olympic flame will be passing through a number of Chatham-Kent communities over a three day period, and will be stopping overnight for a very special “cauldron lighting” ceremony in Chatham on December 22, 2009. To celebrate this historic moment, the municipality will be hosting a free full-day event to showcase, honour, and celebrate our community’s cultural diversity, heritage, local accomplishments, and community champions. Taking place at the Kinsmen Auditorium and Memorial Arena, from 12 p.m. until approximately 10:30 p.m., this event includes a full day of free family activities, performances, art demonstrations, and sporting events.

The Chatham Kiwanis Music Festival Committee has recently announced the dates for the 65th Annual Chatham Kiwanis Music Festival. The Festival will be held from April 6 to April 16, 2010. The Grand Concert is scheduled for Tuesday, April 27. Free copies of the Festival syllabus are available at Tony’s One Stop Music Shoppe, Frank’s Music Centre, Strings ‘N’ Things and Gospel Text Book Store in Chatham. Entries must be postmarked no later than November 16, 2009. Band and Choirs entries must be postmarked no later than Dec. 1, 2009.
