The CK Dramatists Society is a forum for dramatic writers to come together, share their work, and receive feedback from their peers. Join the Wii Bowling League at the Wallaceburg Seniors’ Community Centre. No stairs to climb. This can be done sitting in a chair if you are unable to stand. A FUN SOCIAL 2 HOURS. All gaming equipment will be provided. No prior experience with the Wii console is necessary. The league using the Wii electronic game console will be composed of two-person teams. Teams do not have to attend every week, but will need to attend enough days to complete the league schedule. Teams will vie for the “Golden Shoes” Trophy . Less impressive prizes will be handed out to the teams managing the best average score, the best single game score and whatever other milestones or achievements we deem worthy, Sign up dead line by: Oct. 2nd. Located in the Region of Chatham-Kent, Tulip Tree Needlearts is a chapter of the
Embroiderersí Association of Canada www.eac.ca. The aim of the organization is to preserve traditional techniques and promote new challenges in the Art of Embroidery through education and networking. Meetings are the 4th Tuesday of every month. For information on meetings or classes please phone 519 674-5538 or 519 354-8590. Workshops are designed to offer members an opportunity to learn both new and advanced methods of needlework. Projects and Classes are ongoing throughout the year. Stitch-ins are held regularly in members homes throughout the region of Chatham-Kent. These offer an opportunity for members to share expertise and ideas. Tulip Tree Needlearts offers group and individual courses through the Embroiderersí Association of Canada. Membership is $50.00 and includes a subscription to the quarterly national magazine Embroidery Canada.

For the second summer the Chatham Tennis Club is offering a series of fun tournaments for youth. All tournaments are on Sundays. The youngest division (11-17 yrs) plays at 1:00 pm while the older group (18-24 yrs) plays at 6:30 pm. A player could play in nine tournaments (three singles, three doubles and three mixed doubles). ARTspace presents Tapestries of a Colourful Life, an exhibition of hooked rug tapestries by Chatham-Kent artist Karen Dysarz. The opening reception takes place on June 19, 2010 at 6:00 pm. It is the first stop in this summer’s 2010 ARTcrawl!
Karen learned the tradition of rug hooking from her mother and felt it was a “strong expression of art in a decidedly feminist sense.” Keeping with tradition, Karen uses reclaimed wool textiles and washes, cuts, dyes, and strips the fibre herself.
ARTspace is a gallery featuring artwork for sale created by Chatham-Kent artists. ARTspace is located at 165½ King Street in downtown Chatham, Ontario. ARTspace is open 12p.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. ARTspace is a Thames Art Gallery community arts initiative in partnership with the Community Futures Development Corporation of Chatham-Kent and Municipality of Chatham-Kent Community Partnership Fund.

Register now for the 4th Annual Chatham Kent & Lambton Children’s WaterFestival (CKCWF) taking place at the C.M. Wilson Conservation Area, Chatham on October 5, 6 7. The festival is open to all Chatham-Kent and Lambton grade 4 classes, including splits. High School classes wishing to volunteer to helpfacilitate the Activity Centres at the festival may also register. This year's event will feature over 40 activity centres, each linked to the Ontario Curriculum in Science and Technology, Environment, Social Studies, Mathematics and Physical Education. With the involvement from industry professionals, groundwater experts and enthusiastic educators, over 1500 local grade 4 students will have the opportunity to explore the many aspects of water protection,

A singularly talented and all-around stand-up guy, Matthew de Zoete (pronounced ‘duh-zoo-tuh’) is helping pop-rock recover its lost sense of dignity and self-worth. The 27-year-old from Hamilton, Ontario, approaches his craft much like an Old World artisan, applying a loving hand to songs whose melodic invention and attention to detail consistently catch the listener off guard. Matthew blows the dust off sincerity, songwriting’s forgotten virtue. His lyrics show a young man wise beyond his years. And his voice: a sweet tenor as piercingly pleasant as Mississippi John Hurt or the young Alex Chilton . Free admission.

CK on the Edge in partnership with CKdances hosts the preliminaries for So You Think You can Dance CK. Come with one prepared solo piece 1-2 minutes long and your music. The South Chatham Tennis Academy will be held for eight days (June 28-July 1 and July 5-8) this summer at the Doug Allin tennis courts (JMSS) for boys and girls 10-18 years of age. The fee is $60 and a registration form may be obtained by emailing Larry Lahey at lahlin@sympatico.ca. Last summer proceeds of $500 were donated to the Jesse's Journey Foundation and they hope to donate a similiar amount this summer.

The door between the past and the present will open once again on July 3, 2010 when the Ridge House Museum, along with its many dedicated volunteers, presents the 11th Annual Spirit Ride. Experience the simple joy and pleasure of a wagon ride as you are entertained with historical sketches and colourful tales of lively characters from Ridgetown’s past. Wagons will leave the Ridge House Museum every twenty minutes beginning at 7 pm. Once again there will be a barbeque in the backyard from 6 pm to 8 pm serving up low cost tasty treats and refreshments. So, before or after your wagon ride (lasting approximately one hour), relax with your family in the backyard and enjoy a light dinner, or explore the treasures of the Ridge House Museum. All proceeds of the barbeque will go to “…a time to mourn…,” a bereavement group consisting of ex clients who would like to support others in need. Tickets available at the Museum are $7 and children under 12 are free with the purchase of an adult ticket. St. Clair College is proud to announce the return of the Thames Institute of the Arts for its seventh summer. Year seven brings the following eight new courses to the Thames Institute of the Arts; An Introduction to Chalk Pastels, The Art of Collected Imagery, Portraiture, Quilting-Circle in a Square, Travel and Landscape Photography, Basic Drawing and Watercolor, Landscapes, and Quilting Bargello for the Beginner. The Thames Institute of the Arts welcomes both the person who is just starting to explore a particular art form and the experienced artist who wants to further develop particular skills. The Thames Institute of the Arts runs for three weeks starting on July 5. All courses are one week in length and held at St. Clair College, Thames Campus. Need a cure for summer boredom? Want to learn about different countries around the world? Wacky Wednesdays at the Ridge House Museum are the answer! Boys and girls, ages 5 to11, are invited to the Ridge House Museum on Wednesday afternoons this summer for crafts, games, and activities. Travel the world with us this summer and visit two far off lands each Wednesday, making cultural crafts, playing traditional games, and learning new and exciting things. Put on your parkas for a visit to Antarctica where we will make penguin pillows, warm up with a stop in Egypt to make your own mummy, and travel north with us to Russia to create a set of stacking matryoshka dolls. Other stops will include Holland, Iceland, India, Australia, and France. Space is limited, so you must register your child at least one week in advance! Sign up for as many days as you would like. Theatre Kent presents the ground-breaking play Bent, by Martin Sherman. This is the story of two men, Max and Horst, who find themselves at the internment camp Dachau in 1934. One is openly gay, the other is masquerading as a Jew.

Following the success of last year’s premier event, CKdances will be presenting Dances in the Park again this summer. This event is an outdoor dance festival held in Tecumseh Park featuring local choreographers and performers. Dances in the Park is the Chatham-Kent version of Dusk Dances, a hugely popular summer event that has brought contemporary and traditional dance to public parks across Canada since 1993.

this years “Progressive Agriculture / Chatham-Kent Farm Safety Day at Ridgetown Campus, UoG. This year’s safety lessons will include electrical safety, grain bin safety,
sun safety, lawn mower safety, fire safety, just to name a few. The committee
is always welcome to new ideas, suggestions, donations and volunteers. Each
year approximately 120 children attend this educational, fun event and are able

Florence native Justin Webster and his wife, Stefanie, owners of Theatre Three-Eleven in Listowel, and both have directing, acting, producing and writing credits as long as your arm, are coming to Florence, to St Matthew's, to put on Wrong for Each Other by Canadian playwright Norm Foster. It's a comedy. It's not for kids. Here's the deal: You'll get a nice church-lady-cooked roast beef dinner in the hall at 6 pm, then we'll go across the road to the church at 7:30 pm for the play. "A chance meeting in a restaurant, after four years apart, sends a couple flashing back through their courtship and marriage. It is a hilarious and often heartbreaking look at the rollercoaster ride of a relationship." And the bonus is that a large portion of the proceeds will go to the new Dawn-Euphemia Community Centre in Florence. We have a limited number of show-only tickets at $12, and dinner-theatre tickets at $27.

Festival of Porches and Verandahs, Ridgetown. The second year of this successful event offering Victorian fare and festivities in a Victorian town. Added to elegant luncheons on private porches and verandahs will be a chalk art event, Faire Tyme Toys display, Art in the Park, period church service in Watson Grove, a picnic and band concert in the park and a Victorian fashion show with high tea. The 4th Annual Chatham Kent & Lambton Children’s WaterFestival (CKCWF) is taking place at the C.M. Wilson Conservation Area, Chatham. The festival is open to all Chatham-Kent and Lambton grade 4 classes, including splits. High School classes wishing to volunteer to helpfacilitate the Activity Centres at the festival may also
register. This year's event will feature over 40 activity centres, each linked to the Ontario Curriculum in Science and Technology, Environment, Social Studies, Mathematics and Physical Education. With the involvement from industry professionals, groundwater experts and enthusiastic educators, over 1500 local grade 4 students will have the opportunity to explore the many aspects of water protection,

The Thames Art Gallery will open its doors for the fourth biennial Eye for Art Reception, a juried exhibition and sale showcasing artwork by Chatham-Kent artists, in partnership with the Carlo Rossini Memorial Diabetes Foundation. This year we invite arts patrons to have “A Devil of a Good Time!” at our costume party. All ghouls and goblins will enjoy themselves and support a great cause. Eye for Art has always been the premier showcase for Chatham-Kent artists. All profits from this event will remain in Chatham-Kent, the proceeds shared by the two organizing groups. The twinning of health care and preservation of cultural identity for Chatham-Kent make the Eye for Art Gala a very meaningful endeavour. Eye for Art is an excellent opportunity to acquire work of local artists. The reception is a good place to dress up and have a great time!
