Research your Family Tree with the help of the Kent Branch Ontario Genealogical Society. Visit their Family History Library in an upstairs room at the main brnch of the Chatham Public Library. They have transcribed copies of census, tombstones, family histories, local histories, etc. for Kent County and surrounding counties. No charge, donations welcome. Contact info@ogskent.on.ca.

Last Monday of the month, January to December
Join Dresden's "LET'S COOK" cooking classes. Students ages 7 to 17 are invited to join the classes at the Dresden Christian Reformed Church, 956 Mooney St., Dresden, The FREE classes are held the last Monday of each month from January to December. Students will learn hands on food preparation and cooking skills in a fun environment while focusing on nutrition and safety. After school snacks and dinner are provided for the students. Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m., all year round
Every Tuesday night is TRIVIA NIGHT at the Moose Lodge, 110 Duke St., Wallaceburg. Cost is $2 to play and there are 40 questions plus a bonus wager question. New players can build their own team of four or just join a team that has less than four players. The team that ends up with the most points at the end wins the money. The more players there are, the more money you can win. Every two months there is also a pot-luck dinner. Call Evan Lumley at 519-627-0405 for more information.

The KENT COUNTY STAMP CLUB meets in the library at John McGregor Secondary School, 300 Cecile Ave., Chatham every month except July, August and December.

The Kiwanis Club of Ridgetown meets weekly in the basement of the Mount Zion Presbyterian Church, 59 Main St. E., Ridgetown. Summer meetings are hosted by members at various local addresses.

TEENS ROCK for teenagers in grades 7 - 10 meets at the Gym at Charlemont Free Methodist Church, 30127 Brigden Road, R.R.#5, Wallaceburg for basketball, volleyball, soccer, table games, outdoor games, campfires, cookouts, camping trips, community service projects and more. Summer Concerts at Two Creeks Conservation Area, one kilometre north of Wheatley on Kent Road 1 continue with Trish Wales & Company. An electric mix of soft pop, old and new standards. An evening of fun. Admission is free, but a hat is passed during the performances to defray costs and support the volunteer efforts of the Wheatley Two Creeks Assoc. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Concert is outdoors or in the pavilion if the weather is inclement. Food and beverages offered by Wheatley Scouts.

A free one-hour nutrition lecture will be held at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Diabetes Centre. Taught by a registered Dietician, it will highlight Carbohydrate Containing Food and How to read Food Labels. This lecture emphasizes healthy eating and is geared toward those with diabetes, impaired glucose or insulin resistance or their families or caregivers. Call 519-437-6086 to reserve a seat.

This is the DEADLINE to register for the Youth Caddy Mentor Program, jointly sponsored by St. Clair College Golf Pro Course and Doug Robbins. The one-day, no cost session will take place in mid-September and the successful trainees will get to caddy for local and celebrity golfers during the September 27th Doug Robbins Charity Golf Classic to benefit the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Community Living Chatham-Kent is hosting its Friends Helping Friends Walk & Ride Event. Every dollar raised will help support Community Living in its efforts to help people reach the goal of inclusion in their communities. Registration is at 5:00 p.m. at Burger King parking lot. Official start is 6:00 p.m. Participants will walk on the Grand Avenue Municipal path. Wallaceburg & District Historical Society Museum Annual Banquet will be held at Trinity United Church, 750 Wellington St., Wallaceburg. The Erie - St. Clair Chapter of Ducks Unlimited is hosting its 2008 Banquet and Fund Raising Event at the Dover Rod and Gun Club, Heron Line, Dover Township. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner served at 7:00 p.m. Cost is $50 per person. The evening will include Live Auction, Silent Auction and Raffles. Raising Money for The Wetlands! On this day, Two Creeks Conservation Area, one kilometer north of Wheatley on Kent Road 1, dedicates the trees planted in our Memorial Groves. Music on stage with Nicole Barron providing inspirational music.

The First Annual Chatam-Kent Cancer Care Conference will be held at Country View Golf Course - a conference for cancer survivors, caregivers and families. Cost is $50 for early bird registration (before September 1, 2008) and $70 after and includes lunch. Spaces are limited.
