First Wednesday of each month, 7:30 p.m., October thru March
Sydenham Field Naturalists meetings and Indoor Programs are held on the 2nd floor of the Wallaceburg Municipal Service Centre, Dufferin Ave., Wallaceburg. See individual dates for Program details.

Wednesday evenings, September - June, 7:45 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
THE BALDOON SQUARES, a square dance and round Dance group, meet at Wallaceburg District Secondary School cafeteria. Usually a light lunch follows the dance. Membership is free for the first three weeks of attendance. Call George Lung at 683-2889 for information.

4th Wednesday of every month, 8:00 p.m.
The KENT COUNTY STAMP CLUB meets in the library at John McGregor Secondary School, 300 Cecile Ave., Chatham every month except July, August and December.

Third Wednesday of the month, 7:00 p.m.
The CHATHAM KENT QUILTERS' GUILD meets at St. Paul's Congregational Church Hall, 450 Park Ave., W., Chatham. New members and guests welcome. Call 354-1985 for more information.

Every Thursday, Sept. 1 to June 30, 6:30 p.m.
The Kiwanis Club of Ridgetown meets weekly in the basement of the Mount Zion Presbyterian Church, 59 Main St. E., Ridgetown. Summer meetings are hosted by members at various local addresses.

Every Second and Fourth Friday of each month, 7:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
TEENS ROCK for teenagers in grades 7 - 10 meets at the Gym at Charlemont Free Methodist Church, 30127 Brigden Road, R.R.#5, Wallaceburg for basketball, volleyball, soccer, table games, outdoor games, campfires, cookouts, camping trips, community service projects and more. Community Living Chatham-Kent is hosting its Friends Helping Friends Walk & Ride Event. Every dollar raised will help support Community Living in its efforts to help people reach the goal of inclusion in their communities. Registration is at 5:00 p.m. at Burger King parking lot. Official start is 6:00 p.m. Participants will walk on the Grand Avenue Municipal path. Wallaceburg & District Historical Society Museum Annual Banquet will be held at Trinity United Church, 750 Wellington St., Wallaceburg. The Social begins at 6 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. There will be a presentation at 7 p.m. by Dawne Mudford on the Baldoon Mystery. Register at the Museum by Monday, September 15. The Erie - St. Clair Chapter of Ducks Unlimited is hosting its 2008 Banquet and Fund Raising Event at the Dover Rod and Gun Club, Heron Line, Dover Township. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner served at 7:00 p.m. Cost is $50 per person. The evening will include Live Auction, Silent Auction and Raffles. Raising Money for The Wetlands! Join the Sydenham Field Naturalists for the Hawks and Migrant Birds Watch at Holiday Beach Conservation Area with Brett Groves. Meet at Holiday Beach at 10:30 a.m. and bring a lunch. Entrance fee applies. Great family outing.

Sunday, September 21, 2:00 p.m.
On this day, Two Creeks Conservation Area, one kilometer north of Wheatley on Kent Road 1, dedicates the trees planted in our Memorial Groves. Music on stage with Nicole Barron providing inspirational music.

Sunday, September 21, noon to 6 p.m.
GrapeJam 3 is set for a Sunday afternoon this year under the big tent in the award winning vineyards of Smith & Wilson Estate Wines just minutes west of Cedar Springs on Highway 3. This Acoustic Bluesfest features some great blues music including local Chatham-Kent blues band Southwest Blues Review, superb piano player, guitarist and harpist, Julian Fauth, and winners of the Jazz report "Blues Album of the Year" for "Bluesology" and Juno nominees for "Sixteen Shades of Blue", the Whiteley Brothers. The First Annual Chatam-Kent Cancer Care Conference will be held at Country View Golf Course - a conference for cancer survivors, caregivers and families. The Doug Robbins Charity Golf Classic sponsored by TekSavvy Solutions Inc. takes place at Links of Kent to benefit the Heart & Stroke Foundation.. The Canadian Cancer Society sponsors their first annual Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer event (formerly Candlelight Walk to Beat Breast Cancer) at Ursuline College (the Pines High School) in Chatham. Tuesday, September 30
This is the deadline to get a deal on 3 shows by Theatre Kent for only $36. Disney's Beauty and the Beast is the first show on Nov. 6,7,8,14,15. The second show is Tennessee Williams' classic drama A streetcar Named Desire on Feb. 5, 6, 7, 2009. The final show in the series is an original comedy by Chatham-Kent resident Karen Robinet entitled Caught in the Acts on May 7, 8, 9, 2009. Monday, October 6, 10:15 a.m.
A free one-hour nutrition lecture will be held at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Diabetes Centre. Taught by a registered Dietician, it will highlight Carbohydrate Containing Food and How to read Food Labels. This lecture emphasizes healthy eating and is geared toward those with diabetes, impaired glucose or insulin resistance or their families or caregivers. Call 519-437-6086 to reserve a seat.

Monday, October 6, 6:45 p.m.
The Chatham-Kent Film Group is showing "The Stone Angel at Chatham's Cinema Six, King St. E., Chatahm. Directed by Kari Skogland the movie is based on an adaptation of Margaret Laurence's Canadian novel of the same name. Cast includes Ellen Burstyn, Christine Horne, Cole Hauser, Kevin Zegers and Ellen Page. Advance tickets at the William Street Cafe or at the door of the theatre. They are $8 for members and $9 for non-members.

Saturday, October 18 and 25, 10:00 a.m. to noon
The Ridge House Museum is holding a Knitting Workshop. Cost is $20 and all supplies are provided. First week students will learn to cast on, cast off, knit, purl and possibly more, depending of the skill level. The second Saturday we will review the stitches, how to read a simple pattern and begin work on the small project (dishcloth). To register call Nicole at 519-674-2223.

Saturday, October 25, noon to 4:00 p.m.
The Baldoon Thunder Chili Society and the Moose Lodge #1156 are hosting the 2008 United Way Chili Cookoff at the Moose Lodge on Duke St., Wallaceburg. 24 teams from around Chatham-Kent will be participating. Prizes will be awarded for Best Judged Chili, People's Choice Chili and Best Booth. Contestant registration forms are available at the Moose, United Way, Martin Insurance and Scotiabank.

Sydenham Field Naturalists present "An Autumn Duck Watch" with John Haggeman at the St. Clair National Wildlife Area. Observe the fall migration at this priceless preserve in Dover. Enter at the corner of Town Line Rd., and Balmoral Line. Meet at the lodge at 1:00 p.m. Great family outing!
