Are Bees man's best friend?
Tuesday, May 30, 2006
Bee Propols very well could be man's best friend and, yes, woman's when it comes to good health . What is it? The term "propolis" comes from two Greek words: "pro," which means "before," and "polis," which means "city."It is a sticky resin that seeps from the buds of some trees and oozes from the bark of other trees, chiefly shrubs such as pines, spruces, and firs. The bees gather propolis, sometimes called bee glue, and carry it home in their pollen baskets. The bees blend it with wax flakes secreted from special glands on their abdomens. ?Propolis is used to slickly line the interior of brood cells in preparation for the queen's laying of eggs, a most important procedure. With its antiseptic properties, this propolis lining insures a hospital-clean environment for the rearing of brood.
Propolis is composed of 50-55% resin and balms, 30% wax, 5% fixed substances such as clump, greases, amino acids, organic acids, composed ethers of alcohol, elements of spores and microelements such as iron, copper manganese, zinc, aminocids, phytoncides, and antibiotics, plus a high content of vitamins B,E,C,H and P, as well as pro-vitamin A. Pollens make up 4 to 10% in the composition of the product.
It is key to note Propolis is now considered an important part of dietetics and a natural cure by the World Health Organization. There are many miracle benefits that Propolis seems to do for people

It was a healer of the ancients and was used to treat wounds that were so called "incurable" ailments. Hippocrates (father of medicine) prescribed the use of the resin to heal sores and ulcers both external and internal.
It is an all natural "aspirin" the bioflavonoids of both conventional aspirin and propolis block the same enzymes that produce the pain and fever.
The soothing effect on allergies is well documented. It blocks the acids that break into the cells to cause the release of allergy-causing substances. It has healed those with liver damage after irradiation. After a double blind placebo test those who took the propolis were healed by the substance.
The fact of the matter is nature heals. Do your research and look into bee propolis. I have never seen or heard of bees getting sick or spreading disease or anything of the sort so that should make us stand up and take note. As with many natural remedies, it has been around for many centuries .
Don't give up on Rex your pet dog as being your best friend. but for your natural health remedy consider a bee and its propolis as your health buddy!
