Bone Health

This article is sparked by the recent interview with Sam Graci and also attending his lecture in Chatham. If you don't know who Sam Graci you should find out by reading one of his books on health his newest is "The Bone Building Solution". He is the formulator of Greens+ and a leading health researcher one the most vibrant people I know!
First let's review what we learned in elementary school, we all have 206 bones and 143 joints which if they are nutrient deficient will decline in density and strength.
We must remember that bone is not a hard and lifeless structure; it is, in fact, complex, living tissue. Our bones provide structural support for muscles, protect vital organs, and store the calcium essential for bone density and strength.
Because bones are constantly changing they can heal and are very much affected by diet and exercise! Until around the age of 30 we build bones fairly efficiently then from our 30's onward our bones break down quicker then they can be rebuilt. The most important years are from 2 to 20 this is the time where about 80% of your bones are being built kind of your savings or nest egg. Unfortunately we don't eat enough of the proper nutrients at this time to have a large depository of bone cash $ so yes our mothers were right in saying "eat year vegetables" or "eat your greens" we have all heard this and how TRUE!!!
We have all heard of Calcium and that drinking milk will give you strong bones.....
Wrong answer......milk being the best source of calcium ..A MYTH!!!
The dairy industry has a powerful hold on the nutrition industry in this country; it pays huge numbers of dietitians, doctors, and researchers to push dairy, spending more than $300 million annually, just at the national level, to retain a market for its products. The dairy industry has infiltrated schools, bought off sports stars, celebrities, and politicians, pushing all the while an agenda based on profit, rather than public health.
This is the kicker milk actually can contribute to bone loss and broken bones.
Research shows that the rate of osteoporosis is highest in the countries consuming the highest amount of dairy. Populations that get their calcium from sources other than milk have extremely low rates of osteoporosis! 40% of the world's population are unable to digest lactose and therefore have harmful reactions to milk products.
The interesting thing is in optimal absorption only 32% of calcium from milk is absorbed - with broccoli or kale the absorption is much higher around 60% without side effects!!
I am not going to get into all the other reasons why I believe humans shouldn't drink
milk but instead I will send you to an internet site
HYPERLINK "http://www.notmilk.com" www.notmilk.com from there you can do your own researchึ
Back to Calcium A big issue this is probably the most important part of this article!
all researchers agree that without calcium there can't be repair development and proper maintenance. The big question how do we get a proper calcium intake? With new research calcium by itself does not get the job done It needs a team of other nutirents to help with bone health.
Vitamin K - one of the big hitters it helps guide the calcium into our bones and keeps it out of our soft tissue like our heart and brain.
Silicon - has proved to be an essential mineral in building stronger bones
Boron helps in improving calcium and magnesium metabolism
Zinc a big gun when it comes to bone building it is a cofactor and helps with over 200 enzymatic actions.
The B's B12, B9, B6 , - which are water soluble help in digestion (they produce hydrochloric acid) these help dissolve calcium in the stomach.
Lycopene (red antioxidant) found in tomatoes, beets and red berries help in keeping bones disease free and keeping them strong.
Another proponent of proper bone growth and strength is your body's Ph level it should be slightly alkaline. Our blood must stay within a narrow range of 7.38-7.42 for us to survive. Our body, if in an alkaline environment, will thrive and have a much better chance to stay cancer and disease free.
Minerals and bone health
Remember what osteoporosis is it is the loss of bone mineral density
Our bones are made up of HYPERLINK "http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/food/general/c...alcium.html" calcium, phosphorus, sodium, and other trace minerals in fact 50% of our bones are made up of minerals.
With the proper minerals and staying alkaline your bone density and strength will increase. Well to answer the call Sam Graci, with 2 years of research in a new Green+, product came up with Green+bonebuilder that has all the necessary ingredients for Bone Health.
Well done Sam this product will start a new wave of products that will concentrate on bone health.
I must say thank you to all the researchers out there searching for and making aware new ways of building and strengthening our bodies!
I hope I was able to increase your knowledge for you To make the Right Choice in your bone health! Thanks for reading.....Greg Foster
