Wind Power – Green or Greed
Tuesday, February 26, 2008
I am all for alternate energy, energy that will lessen our footprint on the earth! I am a messenger of the truth, in the absence of truth our families our environment and our health become greatly compromised! Are Wind turbines Green? In small individual installations for single home usage I believe YES! Big Industrial turbines that stand 300 to 450 ft tall in clusters and rely on the grid to run NO! They claim they are 100% green, then how come they have to rely on the grid, they need electricity to run! Some say when we have a blackout we don't have to worry WRONG!! Power goes out wind turbines don't RUN!
Are they healthy? A resounding NO......there is now something called Wind Turbine Syndrome – google it, check it out , Dr. Nina Pierpont, a medical doctor, has Clinical studies into this

Turbines should be at least 2 miles from our homes

These problems are WorldWide!
noise – mechanical and low frequency have caused head aches, sleepless nights to near blindness in some cases.
VAD - Vibroacoustic Disease, or VAD, is a chronic, progressive, cumulative, systemic disease. Exposure to high-intensity/low-frequency sound and infrasound can lead to Vibroacoustic Disease.
Loss of wildlife, remember this is just the beginning. What happens when more are put up? Studies in the Appalachian Mountains have found large numbers of bats killed by wind power turbines. A 2004 study estimated that over 2,000 bats were killed during a seven-month study at a location with 44 turbines. A 2005 report estimated that about 2,000 bats were killed during a much shorter six-week study period at a location with 64 turbines.
One study estimated over 1,000 raptor deaths per year. Such large numbers of raptor kills due to wind power have not been documented elsewhere in the U.S. A study in 2001 estimated that over 90% of the raptors killed annually in the U.S. by wind power turbines occurred in California.
What did the local Kruger firm do at the Port Alma Wind facility? They did their own study of bats..how nice .. Check out their study out on their website if you wish
But here it is : 5 different days in Oct to Nov they spent 10 minutes each day for a total of 5 days – a whole 50 minutes of studing the Bats! WOW .. What a slap in the face to us.....remember bats eat 1000 times their weight in mosquitoes!!!
We NEED BATS!
Property devaluation : some properties have gone down as much as 50%
Safety: Blade speeds from tip to tip reach 200 miles an hour causing ice throws of up to 1700 feet from the turbine. This study done by Professor Matilsky, Dept of Physics at Rutgers University
Lets get to the effectivness of the Monsters:
Denmark, the poster child for wind energy and the producer of many has 6,000 turbines supplying a population of 5.3 million. These turbines produced 19% of what the country used in 2002 yet no conventional power plant has been shut down and their output of C02 greenhouse gas went up! They have stopped erecting more in their homeland. They are the biggest supplier of the machines to sell elsewhere in the world though.
In Europe over the years research has shown that wind turbines have a 20% efficiency rate. Many countries have put a halt to wind turbine growth and some have de commissioned facilities..WHY? A new world to sell to North America!
North American wind companies are saying they are going to be around 30%
Hummm..... same turbines yet 10% more efficient then Europe? and really 30% efficient at 2.5 million dollars per turbine , If you or I worked at that rate we would be FIRED!
Almost every country to the east of us have stopped adding wind turbines, and in some cases shut them down . California population 35 million with 14,000 turbines (2.5 million ea.) produced half of 1% off their electricity in 2000.
It seems we are instead of doing our research into the big picture we are throwing these Monsters up and creating another environmental problem. It's an easy fix right – we don't have to change our way of life, we can still drive our cars, throw out our garbage, buy food from outside our local area, Hey just throw up a Wind turbine!
Think about it!
We have to do our part for green house gases, Wind Turbine Factories known as Wind Farms are not the answer they are just another problem that is only going to get worse!
