President's Message......

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

To err is human and boy I have erred. I sent the wrong thing to press for the last column. This is what should have been posted.

Another new term of office has started at Branch 18 for the Executive and to continue the tradition here is our President Diane Daly's annual message.

Well what a year this has been for the Legion. I'm pleased to say that as President this past year it has been a pleasure to work with a great team of people who were willing to put their hearts and passions to work to make our Legion and our community a better place. I want to thank all of the executive members who took their jobs seriously and made taking care of Legion business a much easier job.

We have had a few changes to our Executive this year and I want to welcome them to our team. Remember, there is no "I" in team. Our biggest and splashiest accomplishment this year, of course, was raising funds and getting our elevator installed. It would not have happened without everyone's support. It's great to see a good turnout to our meetings and if you'd like to know what it is we do, please come out and join us.

I've attended both District and Provincial conventions this year and I'm still learning of how great and how large our organization is. Did you know that there are 6,000 cenotaphs in Canada? We are proud supporters of our troops and at our Provincial convention a donation of $200,000.00 was made to the Troop Morale Fund. Way to go Ontario! As we swing into the second year of this (and my final) term of office, drop into the Branch and see what other great work our special project team (Bill & Hugh) have been working at. Thank goodness they're retired. We've got some great events coming up and weíd love to see you and make you welcome.

Thank you President Diane Daly. Thank you for all the hard work you do.

Events: Friday July 24th is our next Pub Night at Br.18 Enjoy a Stuffed Pork Loin with roast Potatoes for just $8.00 per person from 5:00 until 7:00pm, then enjoy the sounds of The Marquis from 7:00 until 11:00pm
