Legion Musing
Message for all Veterans
Tuesday, July 28, 2009
This column is to all Veterans and I am talking ; young, old, WWII, Korean War, Peacekeeping, Afghanistan, Legion member or non-Legion member . I'd like to talk to you. If you served overseas or in Canada for 1 year or many years you are a Veteran. The Branch Service officer and I would like to talk to you and meet with you. There are many new programs out there which you may qualify for. I will be talking to Veteran Affairs to get information to give you. Please call the Legion at 519-627-6663. We need to bring you up to date on these programs.I also want to talk to anyone who did serve overseas who is or has had the nightmares and all the other problems which come from these overseas tours. Again I'm talking about young, old and everyone in between. I would mention as well that anyone who reads this, not just people of Branch 18 Legion in Wallaceburg , but all overseas Veterans who read this, we all suffer from our time overseas and really we can help one another. One-on-one and hopefully as time goes on in groups. We all share common problems and they don't go away. But together we can all learn to cope better and start healing. I would also invite our brother's from Walpole Island. Most people cannot understand what we faced because unless you were there you can never understand. If we do have a meeting I can bring people to give you information on programs to help you. These programs work. I know I've been going for 2 1/2 years and they've helped me. So please start with the first step. Contact me for one-on-one and in time in a group. It's time to start healing ourselves. You can contact me via the Legion phone number 519-627-6663.
I have been talking and working on starting a day clinic in Chatham-Kent so people do not have to travel all the way to London to receive help but you have to come forward so I can prove we have the need. So Veterans please contact me.
Events: WAMBO's coming! Please call the Legion to sign up to volunteer.
Boaters visiting WAMBO, the Legion is offering FREE berthing during Wambo. Yes it's new this year. It is free to try up alongside the Legion with free hook up of water and hydro dockside.
