Legion Musing

A little housekeeping

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Well time for some housekeeping issues. I'm trying to keep 2 columns ahead, since you never know what can happen in life. I am looking for ideas for the column. So if you have one and I'm not around please write it down and give it to the Bar Steward they will put it in my slot. I'm always looking for people's ideas of what they'd like me to write about.

We had our joint Executive meeting on Sept 30th with the Ladies Auxilliary. A lot of issues covered and I hope we were able to clean them all up. We hold these meetings a couple times a year. It does allow for some better communication between the Legion and the Ladies. I must say personally that I like to go to the meetings. We will be meeting more often, so we can stay on top of issues. Which is a great idea and improves communication.

To all the members it's early bird time for your dues. The dues are $44.50 again this year. Remember you could win having your 2011 dues paid. The draws are held at the end of Sept, Oct and Nov. That's a good reason to pay your dues early if you ask me. So come on don't delay pay your dues today.

As you know Bill Bechard is our Second Vice President. I didn't mention his duties when I did the meet the executive column awhile back. Well he does Leadership and Planning. Well he does that when he and Hugh are not working on the bathrooms or fixing something or doing the many jobs they do around the Legion to keep the old girl standing and running smoothly.

With that said when you see Bill or Hughie why not tell them what a good job they are doing. Because they have been doing a great job and their many helpers who work quietly behind the scenes. Keep up the great work guys. Bill mention that once the bathrooms etc are done he'd like to give the place a painting, so keep your eyes peeled for a notice looking for volunteers to help with that.

Events:
Then next General meeting is Oct 19th at 7:30pm. There's always plenty of chairs and we have extras. So don't be shy we'd love to see your smiling faces upstairs at the meeting. You as a member have a say and a vote, please come and use it.
