High School to be involved in Remembrance Ceremony

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

I was talking to high school teacher Chris Drew lately and he spoke of what he wanted to do this year for the high school's Remembrance ceremony just 2 days before Nov 11th. I think it's a great idea and I'd ask that everyone back him. The plan is to assemble the high school students at the Cenotaph to pay honour. He puts on assemblies each year and shows a great respect for those who served, are serving and those who died defending Canada and Freedom. It is great to see the respect shown to Veterans by the high school students.

I feel that as Veterans it is our duty to reach out to the youth of Canada so they can learn and better understand how terrible war truly is and learn of duty and the honour to serve one's country, so others may be kept safe from harm so if you are free on Nov 9th at 9:30am and the weather is good come to the Cenotaph for the High School's Remembrance ceremony. If the weather is bad come to the high school. This year they are paying Honour to the Korean War Veterans and Al Mann. Please come and be a part of this ceremony by the young people of the town. I am sure you will be moved by them.

Events: Oct 30th at 10:00 am we will have our Poppy campaign flag raising. The Mayor is coming to raise the flag. Please come out to the flag raising, even if you do not have a Legion uniform. Also you will see Volunteers out in the stores this day. Remember Poppy's are given out, not sold. You can make a donation if you wish, if not please wear the Poppy in a respectful manner over your heart. The money raised goes to help needy Veterans and their families. Nov 8th at 10:00 am is Branch 18's annual Church parade. It is a Knox's on Wellington this year. All are invited to attend.
