Big three projects almost complete
Tuesday, November 24, 2009
Have you seen those nice new windows going in? The big 3 projects are almost complete, they are the elevator, new washrooms including a new up to code handicap washroom and new double pane energy efficient windows. Starting Nov 16th we will start washing the walls and then we paint. This caps a wonderful year here at Branch 18. A big Thank You to Bill and Hugh and all their helpers. You have worked so hard to complete these projects. We are lucky to have you, here at Branch 18. I was talking to both of them a couple weeks back, they hope take it easy next year and rest up. There are a number of projects to plan, including a storage place for all those tables and chairs. Of course with no major project's next year, that means they get to spend more time with their families. We may have to reintroduce them.Calling all my elves it's time to really get going on the Christmas toy and food drive. Here at Branch 18 we are accepting new toys, food items and cash. I promise that all money donated will be spent here in Wallaceburg to help Wallaceburg families. Please help us make this the year that "There was a new toy for every child Christmas morning and a meal for every person Christmas Day." The need is great here in Wallaceburg and too everywhere else. I have not managed a load of food yet and I need 6 of those and 5 more loads of new toys. Please make the dream come true for our neighbors who need our help. We have a Legion member who has a copy of Al Mann’s book, No Return Ticket, for sale. If anyone is interested in purchasing it, please call the Legion and leave your name and number and the member will contact you.
Events: Nov 27 is the Honour Guard's fish fry. It's just $12.00 per ticket. You can drop in to the bar or call to reserve your ticket. The meal will be served at 6:00 pm. Instead of our Country Christmas we will be having a Steak Fry, Saturday Dec 12th at 6:00 pm with music by the Marquis. Tickets are just $15.00. Take out for this is available but there are a limited number of tickets. New Year’s Eve tickets are now available. Get them early.
