Legion Musing

Reflect on those serving....

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

As I sit here looking back on the wonderful year we have had at Branch 18, I wonder if we can ever top it. Thank you to all who assisted or donated to our fundraising for the Elevator.

Well everyone we hope in 2010 to slow down for a well earned rest, however our regular efforts will continue helping Veterans and their widows, seniors and youth, also helping the community of Wallaceburg at large. In the new year we will continue to offer our hall to community groups, not for profit groups and support groups for free. To apply you simply write us a letter explaining your group and why you need free use. Please give us several dates and a couple months advance notice so we can fit you into the calendar of events. This letter has to go to the Executive for approval and the Executive meets once a month. We are here to help and this offer is open to all such groups. You can come to the Legion during operating hours and give it to the bar steward.

Now Christmas is coming. As a Veteran who served overseas during Christmas I would ask that as you sit down to your Christmas dinner to please pause and think of the brave men and women of the Canadian forces serving at home and overseas to keep you safe and sound here in Canada. It is a dangerous job, but they do it because it has to be done. Let's hope it is a safe Christmas for all of them.

To all members of Branch 18 and the Executive on behalf of the President, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years. Don't forget our New Years Eve party on Dec 31st and of course we invite everyone to come to our New Year's Day Levee at 1:00 pm on Jan 1st 2010.
