Legion Musing
Some of the parts of the Legion....
Tuesday, March 23, 2010
I am going to talk about a number of groups at the Legion in the next few months. They are the people who work so hard behind the scenes to put on events and keep the Legion running. So first off is The Ladies Auxiliary. This group of Ladies usually cook meals for people who rent the hall upstairs. As well they cater to Legion functions such as Legion sports events, Legion functions and also meetings at Zone and District level. I have been to a lot of different Legions and their events over the years and I can state with complete confidence, our Ladies put on the best meals. But they do not stop there, they run bingos and put on social events to raise money. They are an important part of our Legion. I encourage all Legion members to stop and say Thank You to this wonderful group of Ladies. Also they are always looking for new people to join them. They meet every first Wednesday of the month upstairs. Why not drop in and check them out.
I spoke recently with their President Helen Janssens who invite Ladies young and old to come up and visit. Also if you wish to learn more you can leave a message at the Legion and the bar steward will forward it to someone within the Ladies Auxiliary. They seem to have fun while working on an event. I want to personally say a big Thank You to the Ladies, please keep up your good work.
Events: Saturday is our regular meat draw and it starts at 5:00pm and there's always a good chance that you'll win Sunday's dinner. The band starts up at 4:00pm, the crowd is friendly and there's a spot to dance. What a fun Saturday afternoon. As well we invite all the general public to come in to visit with us at anytime of the week. April 12th at 7:30pm there's a most important meeting at the general meeting. Nominations for the entire Executive, come out to this meeting please.
