Good day of golf for Branch 18

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

We held our annual golf tournament on May 15th, the turnout was good. A wonderful day of golf and companionship was enjoyed by all. Some may wonder where the funds raised will go to. Well first off we use that money for our Youth-Ed program and for our Seniors program. For the seniors this includes our annual free seniors luncheon held on the first week day of June. Last year 110 seniors came out to enjoy this luncheon. We have in the past done a bus trip, however I'd like to find other things to do during the year for seniors as well. Our Youth-Ed program includes our annual fishing derby, now held on Canada Day. Last year there were about 138 kids who came out for this fun event. I know that the chairs for both Seniors and Youth-Ed would like to hear any ideas people have for new events etc.

Dragon boat is coming on Saturday June 5th the volunteer board is in place downstairs, please sign up early. We always need a lot of help on this one. This year we will be sponsoring a team, instead of donating directly to the event. I hope that it is a safe and successful event, which I hope that everyone will enjoy themselves this year.

Did you know that we are open to the public and everyone is welcome at Branch 18 the Friendliest Legion in Town.

Events: May 28th at 7:30 pm is installation of Officers upstairs at Branch 18. Branch 113 from Dresden will also be there as this is our usual tradition. June 1st at 12:00 noon is Branch 18's annual Free Seniors luncheon with guest speaker Constable Randi Hull. Also on June 1st at 3:00pm is a joint Executive meeting of the Branch and Ladies Auxiliary . June 5th is Dragon Boat Races, please come out to enjoy this wonderful event. Also remember that every Saturday afternoon is Branch 18's Meat draw, with the band starting up about 4:00pm, the draws start at 5:00 pm. Good fun for everyone.
