Legion Musing
Things buzzing at Branch 18
Tuesday, June 15, 2010
The Dragon boat races have come and gone, a big thank you to everyone who came and helped us at Branch 18. As well, a big thank you to all who came and enjoyed our Legion during the day. It really takes a lot of people working together to have such a successful event. I wish to thank Brian Armitage for asking to use our Legion for the event and of course, all his volunteers. I am looking forward to next year. Of course the big winners are Cancer and the United Way. I wish to say thanks to all the people who came to the races, both the teams and the public.Well I was looking at the planner and I see that we will be hosting the local Sea Cadets on Wednesday June 16th on our patio for a free BBQ before they head out for the summer to the various Cadet summer camps. We at Branch 18 are proud to help with such things as this BBQ, we will be supplying burgers and drinks for the evening. This year the Ladies Auxiliary will be joining us and helping out with the supplying of pop, hamburgers etc. I look forward to visiting the Sea Cadets again.
Did you know there's a Father's Day tie raffle going on at Branch 18? Thank You to the students of St Elizabeth School for making the ties, proceeds from this will go to help St Elizabeth. So why not drop into the Legion and purchase one.
Decoration Day is coming up, it is June 27th at 2:00pm at Riverview Cemetery. We will be having refreshments back at Branch 18 afterwards. Please join us there as there will be some chairs and people are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
Events: Friday night is a new Dart League at Br.18 it's called Dart Jitney, come check it out. Also don't forget the best kept secret at Br. 18, our Saturday afternoon Meat Draw. The music starts at 4:00 PM and the draws at 5:00 PM. Good music, friends, fun and you just might win Sunday's dinner. Branch 18 the friendliest Legion in town.
