Legion Musing
Suffering from an outbreak....
Tuesday, July 27, 2010
At the writing of this column I am currently suffering a relapse of my PTSD. It is hard on a person, however I must say my Fiancé has helped me. I know it's hard for her to watch, but that's what a good woman will do and her trying to comfort me helps me. She has a son over in Afghanistan so she learning via me on how to deal with anything he might suffer and both of us will there should he need us.In time I'll get a grip on things and get rested up. This does take a toll on you, in that you lose a lot of sleep during a relapse. I must say it's been a long time, but I had not let my guard down this time like in the past. So I'm hoping to weather this storm sooner than later. however it will go at its own pace.
So because of this outbreak I have taken a leave of absence from being President of Branch 18 in order to focus on getting this under control. A part of this will also be trips to the OSI Clinic in London. Yes it does help to talk about it and they seem to find new ways to help us.
My 1st Vice President has taken over my duties. However there are a few things I'll still do during this time. Of personal importance is August 9th Peace Keepers Ceremony at Wallaceburg's Cenotaph at 12:00 noon. I have one of the first Peace Keepers coming that day. So please everyone who can come out and fill the Square. Peace Keeping is a Canadian idea and no one is better at it then Canada. To be a good Peace Keeper you must be a good warrior. Canada is simply put the best at it. Many times we have made the Peace with just bare hands. Not being allowed to carry loaded weapons. Of course then there's the big day... August 28th at 6:30pm my fiancé and I will be married at the Legion and enjoy a night with family and friends.
Events: Don't forget to visit Branch 18 during WAMBO.
