Jamaica Trip May 12-17, 2009

I must first say that upon arrival in Montego Bay I was impressed on how well laid out the airport terminal was and how easy it was to navigate through the terminal. Once outside there are many cabs and tour buses waiting to bring you to your destination. The infrastructure in the Montego Bay area to Negril and over to Ocho Rios have been improved drastically in the last couple of years, they have rebuilt the main highway with most of the way being double lanes, If you decide to drive yourself you will need to keep in mind that they drive on the left hand side.
Montego Bay area and Ocho Rios have many resorts in their areas, most of them being the All-Inclusive type and can range from 2 stars to 5 plus stars with recognizable chain names such as RIU, Iberostar, Gran Bahia, Sandals, Beaches and Couples.
I stayed just outside Montego Bay for 2 days and was able to experience both the daytime and the night life "Mo Bay" has to offer, you can fill your days sitting and relaxing by the beach, pool, take a river rafting ride on the Martha Brae or if choose you can take a tour into Montego Bay and visit Gloucester Ave as also known as the "Hip Strip" it is on this street where you will find all your authentic Jamaican souvenirs such as Jerk spice, Reggae music, Jamaican beaded jewelry and of course pictures and paintings of Jamaica's most famous singer song writer, Bob Marley – you will also find Jimmy Buffett's famous chain Margaritaville, here and you can enjoy a great meal or take a ride on the water slide.
My next 3 days where spent in Ocho Rios where the weather is definitely different, my first 2 days in Montego Bay were filled with sunshine and the last 3 days it rained everyday with the exception of maybe an hour of sunshine spread throughout the day.
In Ocho Rios again are the same chain names such as RIU, Couples and Sandals.
There are a lot more attraction choices in the Ocho Rios or "Ochie" area; here you can climb the Dunn's River Falls, see Shaw Park Gardens and Waterfalls, zip line in the canopy of Ocho Rios, or visit Jimmy Buffett's Magaritaville in Ocho Rios. There are many tour companies around both the Montego Bay and Ocho Rios area that offer attractions.
