The Facts:
According to Safe Kids Canada, 20,000-30,000 children are injured annually on playgrounds.
54% of injuries are sustained by 5-9 year olds
26% of injuries are sustained by 2-4 year olds
33% of injuries occur at public parks
35% of injuries occur at school parks
Slides, monkey bars and swings account for most of the injuries

Playground Safety Tips:
Adults should supervise children at all times
Remove all cords and drawstrings from childrenís clothing as they can get caught in playground equipment and cause strangulation
Children should take helmets off before playing on equipment as helmets can get trapped
Do not allow children to tie skipping ropes to the equipment
Tuck in loose clothing that may get caught on the equipment
