Twelve children were awarded with new bicycles, locks and helmets this past Tuesday during a presentation ceremony held at the Chatham-Kent Children's Safety Village.

The "Bike it Forward" contest, run by the Public Health Unit, invited youth in the community to submit essays requesting a bike for someone they know who they thought deserved one. As a twist, all the essay authors also received a new bike. Constable Bernie Louwerse was on hand at the Safety Village to give safety instructions to the youth and to properly fit their new helmets in preparation for the road.
