(MAVERICK MULTIMEDIA STAYING IN CANADA'S CLASSIC CAR CAPITAL CHATHAM-KENT)
After a successful five year run "Old Autos Television" is wrapping up, but will be replaced with a new show produced by Chatham-Kent based Maverick Multimedia Inc.
The new program: "Street Sport Television" is more current, and will focus on a broader range of subject matter.
"SST offers a broader base of focus allowing us to showcase not just vintage vehicles, but collectible vehicles from all eras including new cars," said executive producer Rick Walker.
" The new format will appeal to a wider audience, allowing us to preserve most of the core audience we have built over the past half decade, while reaching out to the next generation of car and retro / current pop culture enthusiasts."
After entertaining offers from several other major cities in both Canada and the U.S. to serve as a host community for the new show, Walker has decided to keep his new production based in Chatham-Kent. "Chatham-Kent Mayor Randy Hope, and Director of Economic Development, Kathy Weiss, have been instrumental in assisting us as we seek to make our business grow," said Walker. We looked at one other city in southwestern Ontario, Detroit, and even entertained a couple of inquiries from communities in Western Canada, but in the end it just made sense for us to stay in the heart of Canada's Classic Car Capital."
"SST / Street Sport Television" will debut the first weekend in August on an expanded network of stations in Canada and the U.S. including the CTV owned and operated "A" network of stations, Granite Broadcasting Stations, WKBW Buffalo, and WMYD TV Detroit. "SST" will be carried nationally in Canada on Bell Express Vu, and on Star Choice. In the U.S. and internationally it will be carried via satellite on the echostar system and via Direct TV.
"We must thank all of our sponsors, including Lant Insurance, Collector Car Productions, and more than 70 others for making it all possible and for believing in us," said Walker.
Once again we must thank both Mayor Hope and Chatham-Kent's economic development staff for all of their assistance. From the first day they were there to help us develop our business plan and to provide guidance.
Viewers should check their television listings for precise show times and dates, which will vary in each market across Canada and the U.S.
