CHATHAM, ONTARIO – Just two weeks away from the official ribbon cutting and the launch of the RBC Opening Festival, the Chatham Capitol Theatre has announced yet another sold out performance. East coast mega stars “Great Big Sea” have now filled all 1,214 seats in the theatre for their concert on October 2nd.
Dan Donaldson, General Manager of the Capitol Theatre attributes the response to the band’s ongoing popularity and the interest of people to get inside the new theatre. “We knew that Great Big Sea would be a popular attraction from the beginning and I believe that people in Chatham-Kent are surprised, pleasantly, that we would be able to bring artists of such stature to Chatham,” he said.
During the Opening Festival week, the first show of Bill Cosby was already announced as sold out and the second show is virtually sold out as well. Other attractions in the RBC Opening Festival include country music star Josh Turner, singing impressionist André Philippe Gagnon, Broadway legend Colm Wilkinson, and the Chatham-Kent Celebration featuring the Nathaniel Dett Chorale, Orchestra London, and the Capitol Celebration Choir—a large choral ensemble assembled specifically to close the week long event.
