Foundation of CKHA’s Dancing for the Stars Fast-Approaching

CHATHAM, ON (Monday, February 1, 2010): The Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s 3rd Annual Dancing for the Stars is fast-approaching! Taking place on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., at the Kinsmen Auditorium, Dancing for the Stars will feature five local physicians and one nurse practitioner performing with professional dancers from Toronto and a special musical performance by Brooke Nicholls. Proceeds from the event will benefit Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Highest Priority Needs. Dancing for the Stars is one of the Foundation’s signature events. It showcases six Chatham-Kent Health Alliance staff members – our amateur dancers – paired with professional dancers from Toronto. Each couple learns two ballroom dances, ranging from the Fox Trot to the Cha Cha, through the Rhythm of the Night Dance Studio, and will perform each dance to an expected audience of approximately 500 on the night of the event. Special guests George Brookes and Mary Anne Ivison from CFCO will emcee the competition portion of the evening and Brooke Nicholls will perform her latest single, “If Wishing Were Forever”. The amateur dancers for the 2010 Dancing for the Stars are: • Dr. Dennis Atoe, Family /Emergency Physician • Bev Boyes, Nurse Practitioner • Dr. Ruth Dowe, Family Practice, Anaesthesia, Emergency • Dr. Wendy Edwards, Paediatrics • Dr. Peter MacKinnon, General Practice • Dr. David Sullivan, General Practice/ED/OB Last year’s event was a tremendous success, raising over $14,500 for the Foundation’s Making the Right Investment – MRI Campaign. The proceeds from this year’s Dancing for the Stars will benefit Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Highest Priority Needs, including the purchase of new equipment and the updating of facilities and services at both the Chatham and Wallaceburg campuses. Tickets are available for $90 each which includes an evening of entertainment, a late night buffet and an open dance featuring social, Latin and club-style dancing.
