At the Chatham-Kent Council meeting held on August 9, 2010 Council:

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

• Approved four Planning Applications.

• Approved the items listed on the Consent Agenda and directed that action be taken as required.

• Approved the following results of various Requests for Proposal and Tenders:

1. The lowest tender meeting specifications from Zamboni for a 2011 model 525 ice resurfacer at a purchase price of $66,207.00 (before taxes) be approved and funded by the Fleet reserve.

2. The lowest tender meeting specification from Furlan Bros. for a 2010 Branson 4720 lawn tractor/mower with loader at a purchase price of $31,036.00 (tax included) be approved and funded by the Fleet reserve.

3. The company scoring the highest matrix score of 13.2 from Nortrax for a 2009 524 J Deere industrial wheel loader at a cost of $96,187.63 (tax included) be approved and be funded by the Fleet reserve.

• Awarded a tender in the amount of $363,862.94, for the repair and improvement of the Kelly Wilson Drain, Contract T10-313, to Dig ‘R Wright Excavating Inc. of Blenheim, Ontario.

• Awarded a tender in the amount of $486,939.75 for the repair and construction of the Middleton Line Drain, Contract T10-305, to Goodreau Excavating of Tilbury, Ontario.

• Approved the 2010 Remaining Vehicle and Equipment Replacement List for a total cost of $979,400.00 to be funded by the Fleet reserve.

• Approved the following Notice of Motion from Councillor Herman regarding Municipality/School Board Partnership:

“That staff investigate further partnerships with both Chatham-Kent School Boards developing a plan for community use of the board’s educational facilities.”

• Approved the following recommendations with respect to the First 2010 Budget Variance Forecast:

1. Administration continues to monitor operations through future variance reports for the periods ending June 30th, August 31st, and October 31st.

2. The net forecasted deficit of $278,000 be monitored and managed by administration with no charge to service levels.

• Adopted the Request for Proposal policy and template for use by Municipal departments where applicable with a minimum weighting of thirty percent (30%) being applied to cost factors during the evaluation process.

• Approved the August 9, 2010 Council Information Package.
