Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!
Tuesday, December 20, 2011
Well Merry Christmas everyone. I think I will always say that whether it's politically correct or not. It must mean I'm getting older.
The Executive want to wish everyone a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year. May your holidays be filled with family and happy times. Please keep in mind and say a special prayer for all our soldiers who cannot be with their families at this time of the year. We are all thankful for the job that they do.
Mike Hindmarsh made his Christmas visit to Parkwood last week and dropped off all those cards we've been signing along with our gifts to our adopted Veterans and all the presents that the Ladies Auxilliary donated as well. The ladies do a great job and we thank them as well.
The food and toys that you have all donated has been picked up so we wish to thank you for your generous donations but please remember that after the holidays we will need to continue our food donations to help the Salvation Army keep those shelves stocked through the tough winter months; and yes anything donated here stays here, even money if you request that.
In the last column I made a mistake (gasp) regarding the band for New Year's Eve which I apologize for. The Charlie Marchand Band will be playing and not Allan James. Sorry Charlie. Tickets are still available and you can reserve your seat by coming down to the Branch and selecting your table when you get your tickets. The hall will be ready for you at 7:30 pm. Remember the Legion has always been willing to send you home in a cab if you don't have a DD or there is always Operation Red Nose, so don't drink and drive.
I have prepared the new meat raffle schedule which is now available and can be picked up at the Branch. So if you're on one of the teams pick it up soon so you don't forget.
I hope you made it out to the Legion breakfast on the 11th, another great meal and a thank you to our Ways and Means group.
One more reminder of the Legion's raffle this year with the prize being a 50" flat screen TV purchased from Tom & Als. Tickets are 3 for $5.00 and most of the executive members either have tickets or can get them for you or get them at the Branch when you're there. The draw will be held on January 1st at the Levy Day celebration. Drop in that day and start your New Year off right with comradeship and food and a new TV.
Lest We Forget
