Letters to the Editor
To the Editor, On behalf of the staff and clients of The Salvation Army Chatham-Kent Ministries I would like to express my deep gratitude for the support we received from the community of Chatham-Kent over the last year, in particular during our Christmas campaign. It is was only by working together as a community that we were able to raise the much needed funds of $400,000 to support the work of the Army in Chatham-Kent. Thank you to the hundreds of individuals that gave of their time during our Christmas campaign. Whether it was standing by a kettle, sorting through toy donations, packing of hampers or distribution of hampers…we could not have met the need without you. Thank you for sacrificing time with friends and family to help us. We will be having a Volunteer Appreciation in April. Thank you to the hundreds of people that donate to the Christmas campaign by dropping in your spare change or larger amounts into the kettles as you passed by. Thank you to the hundreds who took the time to send in a cheque of your support to the Army’s work in Chatham-Kent. And to the several who took advantage of donating on line at www.fillthekettle.com. Without your financial support, we would not be able to do what we do in this community year-round. So with grateful hearts we start this year, ready and recharged to meet the needs that come our way. We will be able to continue meeting hunger needs, emergency needs of furniture & clothing and housing needs through our four family services offices. Also we will be able to continue to provide budgeting support and youth support to many in the coming year. As we move into 2012, we are prepared that there will be expected needs and possible an increase to our services, but as a community we can meet them. We are always looking at ways that we can better serve the vulnerable in Chatham-Kent and will be announcing some changes in the coming weeks. God Bless, Captain Stephanie Watkinson Stephanie Watkinson Captain Corps Officer (Pastor) & Family Services Director Ontario Great Lakes Division
