						  <title>Highly successful International Women's Day event held!!!!!</title>

					    <description>&quot;Through Women's Hands&quot;, the art show and sale held each year to benefit the Chatham-Kent Women's Shelter, was in a new location this year and much expanded from the previous three year's efforts. And organizers efforts were rewarded as the Portuguese Club in Chatham was filled to overflowing as a large number of patrons attended to browse and buy the work of the 27 artists who participated in the show. Executive Director of the Women's Shelter, Patricia Arango, was beaming as she spoke to the cktimes' John Gardiner. &quot;For a long time Intnerational Women's Day wasn't as much of a celebration as it should have been,&quot; she said. &quot;This is a celebration of what women can accomplish. The time for victims is done. We need to work together and celebrate our accomplishments.&quot; attached are some photos of some of the artists who took part.....

						  <title>North Kent Mutual continues centennial celebrations.....</title>

					    <description>North Kent Mutual in Dresden continues to celebrate its 100th anniversary in a way that benefits the entire local community. Last Wednesday evening, the company held its 100th annual general meeting at Dresden Arena and a large gathering of policy holders and well wishers attended to take part of the festivities. And part of that was the awarding of more community grants to groups and organizations across the entire local area. President and CEO of North Kent Mutual Paul Badder was doing the honours. cktimes' photographer John Gardiner dropped by the big event and snapped these photos of the grant recipients receiving their cheques....

					    <description>The 65th Annual Chatham Kiwanis Music Festival will be held this year from April 6 - 9 and April 12 - 16.  Music students from across Chatham-Kent, Windsor and Essex are now busy preparing for the Festival. This year there are 885 entries in the Festival.  Festival entrants were able to register and pay registration fees online.

One such challenge was repairing the damage done to a pâper maché crucifix that was “assaulted by a chair” at a police station. This beautiful piece had to be restored using unique methods involving a test tube holder and a dental pick.
