Today many may find the work tidiest on an existing deck, fence or railing.  This may include a very thorough power washing, sanding, staining, replacing a twisted post or replacing a deck board.

Now if you are like me, these imperfections can be left or ignored until you have no choice but to address them.  Pressure treated lumber looks very nice when the new fence or deck is built but in just a short period of time you begin to notice the effects of the wood drying out, huge cracks appear in your post and the original green has begun to fade to a grey color.  If you plan on applying a finish to your deck or fence, it is a good idea to wait at least a year to allow it to dry.

The next step up in a popular deck building product is Cedar.  Cedar weathers well and can look great for many years.  You can expect a cost increase when purchasing cedar over pressure treated lumber.  Sadly, the time will come that you will be required to maintain your cedar in a similar fashion as a pressure treated product; deck, fence, etc…

This brings me to where I would like to give you a couple options that may very well eliminate your deck woes for good.  Finishing your existing deck with Vinyl can be very easy and reasonably cost effective.

The most inexpensive way to complete the transformation from wood to vinyl is to first remove any railings but leave all well secured posts.  Second, remove the existing deck boards.  Use caution not to damage the deck's framing.  Now you are ready to install the vinyl deck boards from VEKAdeck.  This product will not rot, chip, peel, blister or corrode.  VEKAdeck has a Slip Resistant Impressed grain for Traction and an Authentic Wood Look.

Now with the deck portion complete it is time for the railings.  We carry a vinyl post wrap that will easily slip over your existing post.  Vinyl railings can be attached to the post with a mounting bracket.  We carry different styles to meet any desire also glass is also available and has a very distinctive appeal.

To complete a project such as this you would require some common skills in building and the ability to use power tools.

If we can help you in any way with product or installation please give us a call or visit us at 281 Grand Ave. E. in Chatham.  We also carry a wide range of Columns for many applications which can be view at our showroom.
